A 29-year-old man, Oghale Ighele, and his fiancée, Clementina Agbate, were recently tied as virgins in an elaborate ceremony in Lagos.

As the couple exchanged their vows at the Espírito Santo Mission in Marcillina’s home, GRA Ikeja, the minister on duty announced that the bride and groom were virgins.

Confirming the bishop’s statement, the groom revealed that he and his 28-year-old fiancé had in fact decided to stay until their wedding night.

According to him, his Christian upbringing and guidance made this possible, despite temptations on many levels.

“Growing up, my parents insisted that I should control myself and never screw up, and I followed their advice. I tried to make friends who wouldn’t trick me into having sex before marriage. Then I started fully involved in church activities and I thank God for guiding me.” he told The Sun.

The newlywed, in turn, revealed that she made the decision to marry a virgin when she was a teenager and feels fulfilled for being able to keep the vow.

in her words,

“I am happy and satisfied to marry a virgin, although it was not easy to do. I made the decision to remain a virgin until I got married when I was a teenager. In the meantime, I grew up in a Christian family. So I had to keep up.

It was not easy for me. In college, I was seduced several times by my professors. Friends also tried to provoke me into fornication and men asked me out. In fact, I have faced many challenges. But what guided me was God and my principle.”

However, the groom’s father, Bishop Igbele, claimed that the groom was not the only one of his children to marry a virgin.
