A tricycle whose wedding was scheduled to take place on Saturday, November 13, was arrested by police on Wednesday after arrested robbers identified him as the ringleader of the gang.
The Nigeria Delta Police Command has arrested the suspect identified as Festus in connection with an alleged armed robbery in Sapele.
Wedding posters with photos of the suspect and his fiancée had already been distributed and pasted, announcing that they would be married on Saturday, November 13, at Oghenetega Baptist Church in Sapele.
Police arrest the groom for theft after tracking him through his wedding poster.
However, after the confession of the captured robbers, the police tracked down the tricycle and arrested it in its vicinity.
According to a report from Correctng.com, eyewitnesses from Festus prison said he pleaded not guilty when police arrested him and claimed he had been framed.
He added that people who didn’t want his progress decided to implicate him in a crime he knew nothing about.
Festus’s arrest had ruined the intended marriage and brought shame to his bride, who would now be on honeymoon with him if the wedding had taken place.
