King of Boys: The Return of the King star Sola Sobowale has revealed that she was initially skeptical about reprising her role for the sequel, adding that director Kemi Adetiba pressured her until she relented.
The Nollywood veteran made the revelation in an interview with pulse where she stated that she was surprised when Adetiba told her about plans for a sequel.
“I said, ‘I thought we had reached all the corners. I thought we had turned all the bricks. So, what are you writing again?’ Then she said, “Aunt Sola, you must do this.”
“Kemi called every day. Without even seeing the script, Kemi freaked me out. I said, ‘What am I going to do next? How am I going to replace the previous one?”
Sobowale said that since the first King of Boys had set the bar high, she wondered how Kemi Adetiba hoped to make something even better than that. That was when the star asked for the script.
“This Return of the King“I know it’s taken me to another level completely,” she continued. “People will see this and see another Sola Sobowale.
“…Kemi Adetiba created an empire and she made each of us work and operate in a different frequency. That’s what Kemi Adetiba did.”
