The Shine Ya Eye edition of the BBNaija show came to a close on Sunday, with favorite Whitemoney taking home the top prize of N90 million. As fans of the show relive their most cherished moments, it’s worth noting that more than a billion votes were cast for the first time.
As revealed by Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, the incredible figure was achieved thanks to the involvement of not only the people in the country but also fans in the UK.
What this means is that despite the criticism and reaction it has received this season due to the shift in voting patterns and some twists and turns, many still invested in the reality show and showed support for their favorites.
Among those who made special appearances in the grand final on Sunday, October 3, 2021, were BBNaija Alumni Laycon and Avala, Made Kuti, and Lojay.
Whitemoney, who came in first after the votes for the six finalists were cast, won a landslide with 47%, while Liquorose was next with 22.99% of the fan vote.

The organizers of Big Brother Naija have announced that the sixth season of the show will cost N4.3 million to air.
Multichoice Nigeria CEO John Ugbe revealed the staggering cost along with the news that 12,000 people had been hired for the production at the awards ceremony, which was held on Monday, October 4.
“We employed 12,000 persons for this show, it cost us N4.3 billion to air this show this year,” Ugbe said. “We use BBNaija to enrich lives and contribute positively to society. We hope to continue to do so.”
Don’t forget that it was already announced that the program received a billion votes. Ugbe further revealed that 300 million votes were cast in the final weeks of the season.
Season 6’s impressive data comes amid strong fan criticism. With just a week to go, fans have threatened to launch a campaign against the organizers. However, the show not only overcame the many obstacles but also did so with surprising marks of success.
